What if you want to teach English in China without a degree?
Teaching English is a demanding career with tough requirements set by the Chinese government for visa applicants. Non-graduates are not granted teaching visas, and Premier English can only support degree-educated applicants because of these legal restrictions. There are lots of less-that-scrupulous organisations & individuals offering to help non-graduates get around the rules, using tourist visas to get them into the country and working cash-in-hand as illegal migrant labour. Recent events have prompted the Chinese government to crack down on these illegal teachers, and now large rewards are on offer for turning in such illegal foreign teachers- who face 30 days’ imprisonment, a fine and deportation regardless of whether you knew you were breaking the law or not. Many thousands of illegal teachers have been arrested and deported in the last few years.
